Finding photos to illustrate these chapters has been challenging for lots of reasons. Stock photos of same-sex couples are very limited. Finding photos of men and women together is easy. If I want a photo of a man kissing a woman, I literally have tens of thousands of choices and a huge assortment of settings. But two men kissing or holding hands? My choices narrow down to almost nothing — and what I can find is usually stylized in high camp gay fashion or set inappropriately to the story.
But in today’s chapter, I faced a different challenge. I wanted a photo of a relatively shabby inn on Santorini. Very hard to find! Guest house owners are reluctant to post photos on the Internet that are less than flattering. Imagine. ;-)
