Monty Python always helps. :-)
Seriously, I don't know what's with the fear. There's a groundbreaking doctrinal conference going on in the Catholic Church right now, and while Pope Francis's heart is possibly in the right place about changing teachings that gay people are depraved and disordered, he took that subject off the table at the conference, because just suggesting revising those teachings makes many people, including/especially most Catholic U.S. bishops, red-faced with apoplexy.
You'd almost think they'd been asked to let women be priests. Oh, wait ... they have been, and they're just as red-faced over that. Francis took that off the table too, and from all appearances, he's one of the red-faced on that subject.
It's like any move to let others share power or respectability with cisgender straight men is met with very strong opposition and anger from conservatives.
I really don't get what all the anger is about.
