Mentoring and friendship should always flow in both directions, Fred, and be healthy for both friends.

I think we manage that pretty darn well, and I’m enormously pleased that you think so too.

And of course you’ve always been much more valuable than a “grumpy, angsty, stressy 18 year old,” though maybe you were those things once. I don’t remember it that way.

I have no idea how or why I have a friend living in Southwest England, but I’m so glad, because I’ve learned so much from you.
