Maybe you saw less and less of Pence, but as an LGBTQ person who reads the queer press every day, I saw more and more of him. He never missed an opportunity to stir up hatred against people like me. Remember the episode when his despicable wife took a teaching position at a school that excludes LGBTQ students and teachers, and even students and teachers with LGBTQ people in their immediate family?

When people rightfully called her out, Pence moaned about how his family were being persecuted for “supporting Christian education.”

Pence addressed gatherings of anti-LGBTQ hate groups over and over again, making the queer news each time. Mainstream press rarely found the time to report on it.

One Sunday he attended a televised church service where the pastor literally called LGBTQ people demonic. Pence looked on smiling while the congregation shouted amen.

The White House live streamed the event and put the recording up on the official White House website, where it remained until the day Trump left office.

Make no mistake, Pence is a sick piece of shit, dedicated to hurting LGBTQ people as much as he can. Feeling sorry for him isn’t something LGBTQ people and allies can bring ourselves to do. Nor do we remember a time when Pence became less visible.
