Maybe healing is the wrong metaphor?

You know, the differences we’re facing in political factions right now don’t really reduce to disagreements. The positions that Trumpists take matter objectively, regardless of whether someone agrees or disagrees with them.

Racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, white supremacy — these are not disagreements we need to heal from.

They are anti-American horrors that have to be exposed, fought against, and ended with uncompromising determination.

Does that mean we’ll win? I don’t know. Frodo didn’t know either as he ascended Mount Doom.

But he didn’t begin to heal until after the struggle was over.

Just sayin’.
