Lovely memory! My partner and I used to love those little notion shops in the garment district. And we ran into Carol Channing a couple times too, though not in one of those shops. For me, a wonderful part of living in New York City was catching ordinary glimpses of extraordinary people. Like having sushi now and then in the same restaurant that a couple of the Baldwin brothers frequented.

And being able to introduce my starstruck dad to Lucy Arnaz one night after seeing her in an Off Broadway play.
