Lovely! I haven’t listened to this in quite a while, so thanks.

Aznavour was a treasure. His music was brilliant and beautiful, and he was also unstinting in his public embrace of LGBTQ people.

While France has a reputation for being very gay-accepting, the situation has always been more complicated than many English speakers realize. Aznavour has acted as a powerful force for love.

The celebrated Renaud acknowledged as much in his own popular ballad, Petit Pédé, which I wrote about and attempted an artistic translation for not too long ago.
