Lots of really interesting parallels here! In the specifics of that case, Bob Jones University was enforcing a restriction against interracial couples, either dating or married, student or staff. This was a direct violation of the civil Rights Act of 1964, but the university claimed religious exemption. The federal government told the university to jump off a cliff, essentially. That no matter how sincere their religious belief, racist discrimination would not be tolerated.

Today, discriminating against same-sex couples is against federal law too. But our federal government does not come down like a hammer, does not use all the tools at its disposal to stamp out discrimination like it did in an earlier era.

Instead, even the Biden administration has argued in federal court that religious universities ought to have the right to discriminate against gay people, ought to be entitled to that exemption because of their religious beliefs.

That's right, the Biden administration.

They're telling us exactly who and what we are. Second or third class citizens in their eyes. The Biden administration is telling the world that religious belief is all it takes to treat us queer people like shit.

Just weeks ago, the Biden Department of Education granted Baylor University an exemption from Title VII after queer students at Baylor complained event discrimination.

The Biden administration made sure that those students will not have protection at law.

And that's where we are right now. What a far cry from the days when the IRS came down like a hammer on racism. Nobody is coming down like a hammer for queer people. Religion rules and we suffer under the God delusion. Anybody can cite God to hurt us and get away with it.

This is one of the reasons I detest Christianity so very very very much.

I understand there are a few good Christians in the world, but most Christians in the United States are like the monsters who run Baylor University — thoroughly despicable homophobic bigots.
