Look, we boycotted private golf clubs that would not admit Black people, even though they had that legal right. We recognized, for example, that the people who ran Augusta National were racist pieces of shit, and we worked out asses off to hurt them as badly as we could. Because we recognized that Southern racism rooted in religion is abhorrent and unacceptable.

The same for religious people who exclude LGBTQ people. Whatever the legalities are, the people who exclude LGBTQ folks are, like the Augusta National folks, disgusting, immoral pieces of shit. We have to hit them with every weapon at our disposal.

If we can, we use the law to hurt them as badly as we can. If we can’t use the law, we boycott, protest, divest, whatever it takes.

What we don’t do is say it’s OK for them to hurt us. Because it isn’t OK. Even when it’s legally permissible, it’s still abhorrent and utterly, uncompromisingly morally wrong.
