Lol!!! In the Air Force, a similar gag has a panicked sergeant screaming at a new airman to run to a warehouse and bring him back a roll of flight line as fast as possible. Lest, you know, western civilization fall or something like that.

The joke is that in Air Force parlance, flightline means runway. It’s probably not particularly kind to send an 18-year-old kid running all over base asking for something ridiculous, but the joke is normally good natured and drinks at the club are usually on the “panicked” sergeant and anyone else who played along with the gag.
