Liberal is relative, of course, and I'm remembering the early 70s. Also, I'm remembering from a perspective of belonging to a family that attended churches that were even stricter and more fundamentalist that many Southern Baptist churches of the time. Thanks for pointing out that perception doesn't tell the whole story!
