LGBTQ people who understand the implications are quaking in fear right now. Practically every gain we have made toward equality has come from the Supreme Court. The political process has never been our friend.

We have had for the large part to depend on the concept of equal justice under the law best iterated by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I mourn the passing of a courageous and beloved ally as I fear for the future.
