Larry Kramer existed on the periphery of my world for most of the 1990s. I went to Act Up almost every Monday night and sometimes heard him speak.

Yes, there were vast differences in opinion about how tactics and strategies should be implemented. Sometimes things got (very) heated.

That may be the most important thing Larry taught us by example and by consistency — harnessing our anger was necessary if we were to survive.

Many people disagreed with him, but everyone I knew respected the hell out of him. He taught us so much about fighting!
