Kissing somebody on the head strikes me as an act of affection bestowed by an adult on a child.

That’s the feeling I get from it. I agree with you entirely.

I remember one time taking my foster son to school. He was 14 years old, and we were very close. Absent-mindedly, I briefly kissed the top of his head before he ran up to the main doors.

He turned and gave me a very serious look. “That’s OK at home. But please don’t do it here. I’m not a little kid anymore.”

He was right, of course. Even at 14, he understood that my affectionate, thoughtless gesture was patronizing in a public setting.

Same with Biden.
