Kavanaugh's concurring opinion in the case is particularly outrageous, although of course the whole decision is outrageous. His line of reason is not technically legal precedent because it's not part of the majority opinion, but it may have practical precedent power given the power of his vote.

If he gets his way, what's left of the Voting Rights Act, meaning that part the Supreme Court hasn't already gutted, might as well not exist. None of it will be enforceable anymore.

The disdain the majority of justices on the Supreme Court demonstrate toward Black voters is transparent and contemptible.

Kavanaugh's disdain is particularly astonishing. But then I guess the entire nation came to understand what a creep he is during his Senate confirmation hearings.

Not that that stopped Republican senators from confirming him. The Republican Party has made clear they will drag the nation as far back toward the Jim Crow era as they can get away with.
