Just as a minor add-on to your excellent article, Amber Stewart, conversion therapy will soon soon be legal in only 35 states, after New York State implements its new law. Sadly, though, in the 15 states that theoretically ban conversion therapy, the practice has continued with little change. The religious exemptions built into the laws make them largely symbolic. Church-sponsored organizations are just about the only groups doing conversion therapy, so exempting them means that almost nothing changes.
