This is perhaps the most critical part of what you wrote. Social media and even general public life are really really hard for LGBTQ people this year. And things are getting worse not better.

The level of naked hatred addressed against us by random strangers every day is astonishing. The last thing we need is a cheerleader like Peterson urging the mob on.

He's giving cover to people to repeat toxic bullshit targeting marginalized people who are already at risk.

Yes, he certainly knows the word pride has many meanings, some of them traditionally positive. Yes, he knows punching down at a young actor merely for being trans is beneath him.

But he's part of the mob right now. He's up at the front with a torch and pitchfork. He's an important part of why many LGBTQ people are very frightened this year. He's normalizing hatred, and we know all too well what that leads to.
