I've written a lot about the AIDS era, but you remind me that I should write more! It's hard sometimes, because writing forces me to remember things I very very very much don't want to remember. When "It's a Sin" came out, I had to turn off the television several times and take a break from remembering.

But raise a critical point. During that era, politicians from the local level right up to Capitol Hill were publicly proclaiming that we deserved to die.

I hope some readers let that sink in.

That's what the GOP is taking us back to, and we must resist with all the fierce determination and courage our communities have historically shown.
