I’ve seen things like this so many times! A small business owner or principal will be so wrapped up in their own complex and difficult tasks that they discount or dismiss the critical tasks that other people do.

A partner will celebrate his new sales and contracts while forgetting that production doesn’t just automatically ramp up and do itself, or that the corresponding increase in bookkeeping has to be done by someone with skills and expertise.

It doesn’t help that young people often learn in business classes that have to “maximize efficiency” without be taught the corresponding lesson that employees are most efficient and productive when they’re happy with their jobs and satisfied with their compensation.
