I’ve seen it work that way with a lot of queer male couples too. I mean, sure, gay guys have a reputation for sleeping around and not committing, and the reputation is accurate with many. But data show that a lot of gay men are monogamous or serially monogamous and that they pair up pretty fast.

I can say for myself that I’ve always moved fast, probably too fast, sometimes with good results, sometimes not.

I think it’s good to look closely at ourselves like you’re doing and ask ourselves why we pair up the way we do.
