I've never understood Davis and people like her. Marriage is a civil contract supervised by the state. There is no religious requirement or component, beyond an optional (legally irrelevant) ceremony at a church, or other house of worship. Hell, lots of couples don't even do that much.
At no point in U.S. history has marriage been controlled, gate-kept, or administered by any Christian church or other religious institution.
So I don't understand how a government official who is a Christian can pretend that their religious faith can justify their refusal to stop people from marrying one another.
Looks like the court system agrees!
