I’ve been watching the anti-trans rhetoric rising from the UK with a sense of mounting horror.

It feels like a witch hunt.

Whenever you see tides of rising “protect the children” rhetoric, you can expect a witch hunt is brewing somewhere.

I’m frightened that such sentiment is spreading to the United States. I mean, not that we don’t have our own native transphobia problem, but it generally has not extended much into LGBTQ and liberal circles.

We Americans are used to the UK rather leading the way in LGBT issues. But right now I see the UK leading the way into overt, socially acceptable transphobia on the left.

All of us need to raise our voices together and push back against this nonsense claiming that trans people are threats. We must demonstrate that fear of trans people is not only unfounded but is leading to devastating consequences to vulnerable people.
