I’ve been watching Sailing Zatara for a while, and they’ve been very frank about their teenagers’ realistic problems on the boat. Their older children have talked about pros and cons very openly. Their oldest left the boat, and another probably will soon. But another kid, about 19 years old now, loves everything about the lifestyle and intends to make it his permanent life. Another has become a social media star in his own right, though he often talks about how lonely he is.
I particularly like Mothership Adrift, especially because the family are a lot more progressive than the Zatara family, and because Mum is clearly the better sailor of the couple. lol. (though Dad’s no slouch, and he’s better at engine repairs and other maintenance.)
They’ve had problems with their teen daughter feeling left out of society and deprived of friends, and they haven’t shied away from presenting the good side and difficult sides of bluewater cruising life with kids.
