I’ve been thinking over the last few days about how many parallel exist being an entrepreneur and being a writer. I’ve been both.

Lots of beginning entrepreneurs focus on simple questions like, should I have an LLC S Corp or a C Corp? Should I do a national name search on the name I want for my business? What kind of tax structure should I use?

I could go on, but many of the questions involve fussy details that are easy to get lost and bogged down in. Just like writers sometimes do.

Would-be entrepreneurs are often urged to worry about the basics. Provide an excellent product or service at an excellent price that people want to pay. Everything else will take care of itself if you can do that.

Just like writing a novel. You have to write the novel. If you spend all your time worrying about details, you’re never going to write the novel.

Write the novel.
