I’ve been a news junkie my whole life. I used to have a job that involved lots of driving. I’d spend hours listening to NPR, happy as a clam to be on the road as long as I could do that.
And I haven’t stopped.
But I’ve also started a big creative project and I think that might be what’s helping keep me sane during these tough times.
As I write about the life of a friend of mine who deserves to be remembered, I plunge for hours and hours into a world of long ago and long before the coronavirus.
I guess that gives me a break from all the fear and tension.
And I’m still a writer while I’m doing it!
Today, though I’m working on an article about how religious exemptions to physical distancing mirror the toxic and harmful religious exemptions to LGBT equality legislation.
So everything in balance!
Maybe my creative writing is helping fuel my energy for writing about current events.
I don’t know.
