I've been a bit shocked to see certain public figures show us who they are during this crisis. Did you see how Chaya Raichik (Libs of TikTok) reacted on Twitter? She resurrected her old homophobic chest-feeding jab, and called Pete Buttigieg "disgusting."
She called him disgusting and suggested he had been too involved in child care to do his job, which apparently to her meant that he should have been on the bridge of a cargo vessel to do something in case it suffered a catastrophic power failure. Ummm ...
Anyway, Raichik and several other well known public figures seized the "opportunity" of a tragedy to let the world know how much they hate gay people.
I hope the public remember that in future.
And, by the way, Pete Buttigieg has a cabinet post because he ran for President and performed very credibly. He bowed out at the "right" moment when it became clear he could not win the Democratic nomination, and then he campaigned long and hard for Biden.
Of course Biden appointed him to a cabinet post. That's how our system works. Cabinet members are politicians who assist the president with his executive responsibilities under the Constitution. They are not, and are not expected to be, subject matter experts.
That goes for the cabinets of every president, regardless of party — no matter the sexual orientation of the cabinet official.
