It’s white women and white working class people everywhere. I wrote about their support for Trump yesterday as a Faustian bargain.

I think a lot of Trump supporters swallow hard, voting for him not because of the racism and misogyny and homophobia, but despite it.

I’m not saying Trump doesn’t have hardcore racists and other bigots among his loyal supporters. Of course he does, and they are deplorable.

But the US is in trouble, the working class is the bellwether, and populists with no scruples can always take advantage of that.

I hope and pray the Democratic Party can come up with a magnetic leader who offers hope and prosperity to all, who can find a way to shatter the negative, untruthful propaganda about social-economic reform.
