It’s time for a reset for sure, Zoey Milford. Not so long ago, Pride events devoted a significant amount of resources to issues and advocacy. Paid performances were small, supplementing the main events.

Today, rainbow capitalism dominates with entry fees to parties being more the exception than the rule.

You could go to Detroit Pride (as just one personal example) without seeing anything about advocacy or issues, even though Michigan is centered on the equality struggle stage these days, with important cases pending in the federal courts.

Many of us have forgotten the meaning of Pride. So, let’s work hard to reboot!
