It’s somehow fitting, though, that it took another famous lover of men, Alexander himself, to finally defeat the Sacred Band.

While this may be true only symbolically, if Alexander did not actually lead the cavalry charge that may have been too much for the Band to withstand, it still feels appropriate to me.

Of course, Alexander’s own homosexuality or bisexuality is often also erased.
