It’s really sad how some men react to elite women athletes. You know, I was a serious amateur runner for a lot of years. I specialized in marathons, and I was pretty good at it. I logged some decent times that most people could never dream of.

But you know what? I always had to be aware that in any race I competed in, lots of women were going to beat me.

There’s just no way an amateur male runner can beat an elite woman marathoner. Hell, lots of amateur women could beat me when I was at the top of my form and faster than most men.

Running is a little different, I guess then some sports, but maybe more men should pay attention to it. They’d have to drop ideas about male athletic superiority pretty fast.

It’s also a great sport to teach humility, because somebody can always run faster than you.
