It’s now Sunday morning and I just watched a high-ranking member of the Trump administration go on CNN and call a mask mandate un-American. He repeated the right-wing talking point that Americans must be free to make their own choices.

I don’t even pretend to understand that in light of the evidence that wearing masks can protect all of us and protect our economy.

We don’t have any problem mandating people wear clothing, or even that women wear more clothing than men.

What is the problem with mandating such a trivially easy thing as wearing a mask?
