It’s interesting to note that one of the reasons the French become so very angry about Muslim values is that like most Europeans the French celebrate public nudity in appropriate settings like beaches and saunas. I’m not saying that everybody runs around naked in those settings all the time, but wearing very little clothing is considered to be healthy and good, and total nudity is too sometimes.

Several incidents like this have gone down in France over the past few summers as Muslim men have berated French women for wearing bikinis or for going topless.

The French public reaction has been pure outrage. They celebrate secular values and insist religious values be kept out of the public square.

Some liberal Americans have call this Islamophobia, but I think they misunderstand important parts of French culture when they do that.

They would likely be the first ones to be outraged if Christians started to campaign against bikinis on public beaches.
