It's interesting to me that all this controversy is breaking out over a musical performance meant to entertain an audience during a sporting event in which 71% of the actual players in the league are not White.

Football is a dangerous game for the players involved. They are highly disproportionately likely to suffer from dementia later in life due to brain trauma, and that's not even the whole story. Most players have a career for only a few years before they're discarded, often without much of a pension, unless they were stars.

So these White people who are pissed off that there weren't more (or any) White entertainers on the field during halftime strike me as similar to Patrician Romans adoring gladiators — glorying in violence and injuries while holding the gladiators themselves as inferior to them.
