It's hard to understand an institution like Yale, that publicly prides itself on its values of diversity and opportunity, privilege a class of people who are already wealthy and overly privileged. Legacy admissions make no policy sense (outside of the fact that they help increase donations) given that they further in power families that are generally already very powerful.

It's jaw dropping to think that elite universities give a boost to potential students who simply don't deserve it.

It's time for Yale to put its money where it's mouth is. They say they're very upset about not being able to use race and it's admission criteria. Fine, abolish legacy admissions now. Stop privileging children of the rich and powerful.

Just do it, Yale. Today.
