It’s hard, BFoundAPen. The act of prying your eyes open and seeing is much harder than letting them close so you can be comfortable. It takes a toll.

Am I my brother’s keeper?

That’s an important question.

I’m not the best person to be advising you, because I’m not very good at avoiding the toxin, myself. When your arms are buried down to your elbows in rattlesnake venom, some of it is bound to seep into your bloodstream.

For your own mental health, you have to take a break sometimes. You have to go take a walk in the country or play with your puppies, or do something else that reminds you of the beauty of life.

If you don’t take breaks to refresh yourself, then you’re no good to anybody, including to yourself.

Not that I follow my advice as often as I should! Researching the news every day for story material leaves me feeling dark, depressed, and stressed much of the time.

But what else can I do?

Nobody ever said that life has to be easy and fun.

More breaks would be better, though.
