It's funny. I used that line in a comment to someone the other day without being consciously aware that I was quoting Woody Allen. Maybe the sentiment has entered the mainstream and is now independent of the quotation's originator.
I think a crush is the heart wanting what it wants, even as our more practical selves know better. I mean, a crush can mature into love, but that ripening is relatively rare.
Love has staying power, while crushes are glitzy and glamorous while they last. A crush is a fluffy dessert, maybe a cupcake topped with sprinkles, while love is a well rounded meal that even when it's made up of favorite foods isn't quite as 'je ne sais quoi' as that cupcake.
But the thing is, we can live quite happily without the cupcake. We can't live without the meal.
