It’s easier for many now. I wouldn’t have had but maybe three or four kids in my school who would have been cool with the “gay thing.” So in that sense, things are better for kids today in most places.

But the struggle is still hard! My mailbox still fills up with questions from young people asking how to find the courage to come out, and many of them are dealing with deeply embedded internal homophobia.
