It’s disappointing people can be so quick to jump to conclusions about sensitive material.
Of course the Netflix poster didn’t help, being viewed outside of proper context, but I’m seeing conservative groups in the United States jumping all over the film for reasons they don’t understand — some of whom have apparently even seen the film.
As a French speaker and a lover of Parisian culture, I get the subtleties of the immigrant context pretty thoroughly, I think.
This film is powerful and important in so many ways. I hope this marketing snafu doesn’t get in the way of Americans seeing this compelling work of art and activism.
