It’s been very well documented that Mother Teresa did not want the poor people in her care to receive pain medication or to receive medical care that could often have saved their lives.
She didn’t spend any of the tens of millions dollars donated to her for those things. That’s a huge problem. A damning assault on her morality and character.
And yet I read in the comments people defending her as if their own lives were somehow on the line. She’s been raised to a saint in the public imagination and people will brooke no criticism of her.
Probably not even the people who believed their donations were going toward decent medical care, and standards of care that were prevalent in Indian hospitals of her day.
It baffles me why people get so furious when historians point out that she didn’t meet those standards and didn’t spend donations on even trying to.
That’s not some minor lack of perfection. It’s pretty monstrous behavior.
