It would be unlikely, at least in my opinion, for the French judge or for any French people to be much influenced by US politics. Few (relatively speaking) French people can read English, and the French don't pay a whole lot of attention to the anglosphere anyway.

But you may be right, and attitudes might have seeped over, despite the French not being impressed with American political leaders.
