"It was two decades later before America got serious about desegregation"

Indeed, and then the blight people responded to consent decrees and desegregated school districts by creating their own private, mostly sectarian Christian schools that were completely or almost completely white.

Once called segregation academies, they were the beginning of a phenomenon still with us, a huge network of Evangelical Protestant schools vying for students and increasingly (as in Florida today) diverting taxpayer money from public schools.

Most of these schools remain disproportionately white, and they also tend to discriminate overlty against LGBTQ student and students with LGBTQ parents. I wrote recently about one of these schools that expelled a girl because her parents had died and she was adopted by her lesbian aunt.

The blight people are doing everything they can to impede or block progress and equity.
