It took a long time for tomatoes to ripen in Michigan this year. We had far less snow than usual last winter, then much less rain than usual, until July, when we got inundated over and over. The corn hasn't liked the roller coaster much, but the tomatoes have exploded. I've been gorging on fresh, Amish farm tomatoes for almost 2 weeks now.
The sweet corn will limp in soon, and then it will feel (or at least taste) like real Michigan summer.
But the seasons are deeply weird up here these days. Nobody really knows what to expect with the weather anymore now that the climate is changing fast.
But no worries, Fox News just distributed a powerful op-ed yesterday reminding people that the climate isn't really changing, that this is all just a figment of our imaginations. Some sort of political ploy for power, evidently.
