It sure is, Nyah. I don’t have the stats ref at the tips of my fingers, but in 2017, violence against LGBTQ people rose to the highest levels in more than a decade. I reference some of the specifics in a couple of my more recent articles.

Last year, an average of one LGBTQ person died every week because of violence related to their gender identity or sexual orientation. Incidents of violence not resulting in death were much more numerous than that.

Trans women are the most at risk of violence out of all LGBTQ people, and trans women of color are the most at risk out of all trans people.

We’ve got an epidemic of violence on our hands, and right now it’s trending in the wrong direction. More queer people are being bashed every day, not fewer.
