You’re probably wise not to discuss the ins and outs of the deadname debate with your child, though I hope you can forgive yourself for being interested in the debate for yourself.

You are the parent of a trans child, and you do have a stake.

I’m pretty sure they’ll thank you one day for your interest, even if now is not the right time to be talking about it with them.
