It seems apt that you're just now posting this story set in Dallas's not-too-distant past. Given the political climate in Texas at the moment, police raids at gay bars are hardly unthinkable.
Just before I read this story, I was reading about a Marine Corps veteran who was hounded off her seat on a city planning commission in Texas. She resigned out of fear for her family's safety after Twitter activists started broadcasting a statement she once made about her son being a big fan of RuPaul's Drag Race.
She said her seat on the commission wasn't worth the death threats she was getting.
