It only takes a few minutes of perusing the lists of books these women want to ban to see exactly who they are. They don't want their children reading anything about the history of slavery or Jim Crow. They don't want them reading about the struggles of the Civil Rights era. And they SURE don't want them reading anything (I mean NOTHING) about transgender or gay people.

At school board meetings, they're very clear that books about families with same-sex parents are "immoral" and even "disgusting."

They can talk about parental rights all they want, but the reality is that they're fighting for the "right" to impose their own myopic bigotry.

We live in a diverse nation with all sorts of values and beliefs systems. MfL apparently can't tolerate that diversity. They work as hard as they can to quash it.

And they're nasty about it.

Don't judge them by their manicured statements to the Wall Street Journal or wherever else. Listen to them at school board meetings. Hear their bigotry, slurs, and insults — often quite shockingly crude.

These are bigots, often ignorant, and consumed with hatred.
