It is odd, the contrast between Greek ideals of statuary and story, and the fact that disembodied figures of huge erect phalluses were common in parts of Classical and Archaic Greece — as something like good luck charms.

It was almost as if big dicks on real men were suspicious, but on their own quite spiritually important.

I can’t say I’m knowledgeable enough to analyze what was going on, but it’s curious!
