It is indeed absurd that a church should have diplomatic missions or any of the privileges of a nation state. The Catholic Church is just a church like any other church. If they will not voluntarily abandon the trappings of their medieval political power, then decent people must rip it out of their hands.

If the Catholic Church didn’t so consistently engage in acts of great moral evil, perhaps those trappings would just be quaint and amusing. But they are clearly intent on remaining a force for right-wing horror, for persecuting LGBTQ people, for subjugating women, etc. Hell, the bishops in the United States right now are trying to force President Biden to criminalize abortion for women who aren’t even Catholics. Their right wing arrogance is infuriating and disgusting.

The Church is unspeakably evil.
