It does get old. Reading all the tips and tricks. You’ll see someone start out on Medium writing good stuff. You enjoy the stories. You clap a few times.

Then before you know it, they start writing a story once in a while about how they’re succeeding on Medium. They they start writing stories about how YOU can succeed on Medium too.

Then they start in with listicles, and pretty soon they’re selling courses. You stop clapping, because you can’t find any good stories anymore. They’ve stopped writing them. Or if they DO still occasionally put out a good piece, you don’t notice it among the dross.

Wanna know a secret? I make money on Medium. Not the MOST money, but I’m up their in percentile terms.

I don’t write about it because I’m afraid to jinx myself, and because frankly, I don’t have any idea why people read my stories as opposed to some other stories.

And because I’m too BUSY to write about writing. If I was writing about writing, I wouldn’t be writing. You know?
