It certainly does! My next door neighbor, a single mother struggling to get by working multiple minimum-wage, part-time jobs, is an ardent Trump supporter. It's hard to figure out why. She doesn't want abortion criminalized, she doesn't want queer people legally marginalized, and she doesn't have the slightest knowledge of or interest in anything going on outside the United States. (Or that matter, outside Michigan. She's never even been outside Michigan.)

To feed her kids and keep a roof over their heads, she relies on SNAP and other community assistance that Trump regularly disparages.

Yet she says she's voting for Trump because he's the only politician who's ever done anything for her.

It's hard to imagine what that anything might be, but it's not hard to see the propaganda works.
